I run MySql 5.22 on a Mac desktop with El Capitan, but the MySQL installation is inherited from an earlier version of OS X. I stopped the server from the MySQL icon in the System Preferences panel, because I wanted to perform a proper binary backup and Dubois’ book said to stop the server especially if you are using INNO tables. The steps below can be taken to install the MySQL relational database management system software on an Apple OS X/macOS system. The steps were taken for MySQL version 5.7.17 on a MacBook Pro laptop running OS X El Capitan, but should be similar, if not exactly the same for other versions of MySQL and on other versions of OS X. Canon ip1800 for mac. An Apple Disk Image.dmg file can be downloaded from MySQL Downloads. In El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra, and Mojave, the MySQL preference pane works again, so you can use it to start MySQL on system restart. See below for Yosemite directions.
